Deadline 9 Now Available

What’s new in Deadline 9?

The latest version of our scalable high-volume compute management solution – Deadline 9.0 is now available. This new version introduces additional security features and UI improvements. For improved security of your render farm, all connections from Deadline to the Deadline database will use SSL certificates that can be password protected. In addition, new installation and configuration options have been added to better support distributed deployments.

Deadline’s Remote Command system now supports Remote Command encryption, and validation checks to confirm that the commands originated from the sender connected to the same Repository. Remote Command redirection is also supported via Deadline Pulse, allowing Remote Commands to be securely sent across different subnets.

A common interface is now included in all submitters for Draft – Deadline’s plug-in for automating deliverables – and for project management applications including Autodesk Shotgun, ftrack and NIM. You can now use additional applications and renderers with Deadline, including Altus, Cinebench, Clarisse’s CNode, Composite 2017, Corona 1.4 and 1.5, Episode, KeyShot, Media Encoder 2017, Microstation CONNECT, Redshift for Houdini, Redshift Standalone, Silhouette, SketchUp 2017, V-Ray’s vdenoise, and VRED. V-Ray DBR support has been included for modo and Rhino 5, the 3dsCmd plugin now supports Dynamic V-Ray DBR offloading, and a V-Ray standalone submitter has been added for The Foundry’s NUKE. Jigsaw rendering for Redshift For Maya and Tile rendering for Cinema 4D and VRED are now included in addition to Redshift exporting from Maya, and Renderman exporting from Houdini.

Note that if you’re using traditional floating licenses, a new 9.0 license is required to run this version. However, if you’re using Usage Based Licensing, your existing render time will still be compatible. In addition, the version of Draft that ships with Deadline 9.0 has been upgraded to 1.6, which will require a new license as well. Please contact our sales department to request updated floating licenses for Deadline and Draft.

Maxon Announces Cinema 4D R18 - New Features

Cinema 4D R18 New Features: Maxon announced the release of Cinema 4D R18 today at Siggraph in Anaheim. After watching some of the demos and reading a bit about it, the new features look pretty great. Take a look at the press release below from Maxon, and check out this Promo to find out how you can get a free copy of Cinema 4D R18.

FRIEDRICHSDORF, Germany – July 25, 2016 – MAXON today announced Cinema 4D Release 18 (R18),  the next generation of its industry-leading 3D animation, graphics, VFX, visualization, and rendering software application. Cinema 4D R18 has new, powerful and easily accessible tools that are tailored to the needs of creative professionals and help master the challenges of digital production for TV, film games, architecture, advertising and design.

Cinema 4D R18 Feature Highlights
At the upcoming SIGGRAPH 2016 conference July 24 – 28 in Anaheim, Calif., MAXON will preview the new features in R18. Feature highlights include:

  • Voronoi Fracture Object – a native feature in the MoGraph toolset in Cinema 4D that works seamlessly with Dynamics, allows users to tear down walls and create artistic procedural geometry using spline or polygon objects to define the fractured shape.
  • Interactive Knife Tools – enable users to draw lines across a model and tweak the cut with an interactive preview, then lock in new edges or split based on the cut; knife tools are available as separate commands for easy access to the desired mode via shortcut or Commander.
  • Object Motion Tracking – the next evolution in MAXON’s effort to give artists accessibility to dynamic VFX and visualization workflows with expanded tools for integrating Cinema 4D creations into real-world footage.
  • Shaders and Surface Effects – offer advanced rendering possibilities for creating iridescent surfaces such as bubbles and oil slicks, for capturing shadows for more efficient compositing, parallax mapping for enhanced bump effects, and creating masks for worn edges using inverse ambient occlusion.
  • Substance Engine Integration – Download compiled Allegorithmic Substances and utilize them to surface your Cinema 4D objects. This fully-integrated implementation offers outstanding workflow and flexibility, plus options to cache Substances on disk for better performance.

Check out the complete features list on the Release 18 Landing Page.

“MAXON continues to build upon its 30-year legacy of empowering our existing and new customers with unprecedented performance and accessibility for streamlining and simplifying design workflows,” said Harald Egel, CEO & managing partner at MAXON Computer GmbH. “Cinema 4D Release 18 builds upon that foundation with powerful new tools and refinements so that creative professionals can successfully handle the demands required in today’s motion graphics, VFX and visualization environments.”

SUBSTANCE PAINTER 1.7: ENHANCED WORKFLOW AND CONTENT

Allegorithmic has released Substance Painter 1.7, to close what has been a very fruitful year for the tool.
