Autodesk had previously released product update 11 for 3ds Max 2012, the update has been removed from the support downloads section.
Autodesk has suggested that customers who installed the update should uninstall it.
A new version will follow updating this release.

If you have a network license(s) and need to move one of the licenses to a machine that will be disconnected from the network for a period of time, did you know you can temporarily borrow a license from the network pool? Maybe you have Maya on a laptop that is connected to your office network license, and you will be traveling but still need to run Maya locally on that laptop. This is the way to do it! BTW, the procedure is similare for 3DS Max or Sofitmage.

Certain advanced Autodesk Smoke troubleshooting or configuration tasks may require you to use the Mac OS X Terminal. This article gives you an introduction to the Terminal (also known as “shell”) and an overview of some basic UNIX system commands and of some custom Smoke commands and scripts you may need to use.
Warning! Use the Terminal very carefully. Make sure you know exactly what a command does before running it. Some commands may damage your operating system or cause important loss of data, if used improperly.

Thinkbox Software today announced the release of Krakatoa MY, the high-volume particle renderer for Autodesk Maya 3D software running on Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
The Hollywood Reporter posted an article about Technicolor and Autodesk partnering in the development of a new color grading and compositing tool. Steve Scott, the pioneering colorist and head of Technicolor, is leading the charge on this new venture and believes that together they can create a single procedural finishing system that would offer tools from both disciplines – color grading and compositing.
The famous “Animators Survival Kit” written by Richard Williams is coming soon to the iPad. The price and exact date of release have not yet been determined, but the publisher, Faber and Faber, has indicated that it will be roughly timed with Williams’ 80th birthday next month.
